U.S. District Judge Victoria A. Roberts granted prosecutors a stay in her order granting bond to members of the Hutaree militia. Roberts had reversed a magistrate’s order denying bond to the nine members of the radical Christian militia, who are accused of plotting to kill a police order and a subsequent attack on the officers in attendance at the funeral.
She delayed the release of the nine Hutaree members, even though she called a government motion “woefully inadequate,” reports The Detroit News.
According to the News, “Roberts said she wants the government to tell her by 5 p.m. Wednesday whether the solicitor general has approved an appeal of her bond order and give other details such as how the government would be harmed if the defendants are released.”
