Western District proposes local court rule amendments

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan is considering amendments to Local Rule 16, which governs the court’s alternative dispute resolution procedures.

The proposed amendments are principally technical in nature and are necessary to reflect the requirements of electronic filing under the court’s CM/ECF system. Other proposed amendments clarify the responsibility of counsel or the mediator in connection with voluntary facilitative mediation.

The court is seeking input on the proposed changes before final adoption of the amendments, says Chief Judge Paul Maloney.

All comments should be in writing and must be received by the Court no later than July 16, 2010.

Comments should be addressed to:
Tracey Cordes, Clerk
United States District Court
399 Ford Federal Building
110 Michigan, N.W.
Grand Rapids, MI 49503

or submitted electronically to ecfhelp@miwd.uscourts.gov. The Court will consider all comments before promulgating a final version of the proposed rules.
