Hilfinger says: simplify this state

How many rules and regulations does the state of Michigan need to regulate business? A heck of a lot fewer than 18,703, said Beverly Hills attorney Steven Hilfinger.

Gov. Rick Snyder hired Hilfinger to serve as the state’s director of licensing and regulation. Hilfinger told a Detroit Free Press editorial board said that Michigan’s abundance of rules and regulations governing its businesses is slowing growth and clogging the state’s road to prosperity.

He’s working with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. on reform in the areas of workplace safety rules, environmental permitting and insurance.
