MSC drops referral fee, pro bono rule changes

The Michigan Supreme Court issued orders this morning leaving well enough alone.

One had to do with the contentious proposal to cap attorney-to-attorney referral fees at 25 percent. Read Monday’s story about the proposal here.

The Court also decided that lawyers are able to determine how — or if — they want to fulfill their pro bono obligations, and have closed the file on an amendment to Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct rule 6.1.
