The Women Lawyers Associaton of Michigan, in conjunction with the University of Michigan Womens Studies Department, is hosting a screening of the new documentary “Miss Representation.”
It will be shown 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at the Michigan Theater, 603 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor.
The film, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival “exposes how mainstream U.S. media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence. Produced and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the documentary film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.”
Tickets to the benefit screening is $15 for WLAM members, $18 for non-members, and $12 for students. For more information, contact Suzanne Sukkar at (734) 418-7330 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Learn more about the film at http://www.missrepresentation.org.
